Editor’s Note: A New Year is going to bring lots of ups and downs. During this month, I will be discussing four experiences that you will no doubt experience in 2022. Here is Part II.
For the month of January, I am preaching to my hitters the importance of these four things for 2022 (see “4 Experiences That will Transform You in the New Year”). They include:
- Step-up
- Sit-down
- Shut-up
- Slow-down
I received my first taste of not being in the starting lineup when I was a freshman at Georgia State University. I was a top high school recruit, but Jason Glover was an All-American center fielder. I was cool with sitting because the game was moving too fast and there was a lot for me to learn from the dugout.
For a lot of players, sitting down could be a devastating thing if you are insecure. If not this season, at some point in baseball, or in life, you will find yourself having to sit down. Just remember that sitting down can be a part of your stepping up.
To help keep your skills sharp, we have introduced a new type of Skill Build—our Virtual Skill Build—where I can help you develop hitting skills anytime, anywhere using anything.
Remember: Intelligence tops being smart.
