It’s May, so let me give you three reasons you may be struggling to get lots of hits this month. As we know, there are seven parts to the swing and it takes 3,000 reps per part to main a skill. That’s 21,000 reps.
- Stance/Load
- Timing
- Tempo
- Tracking
- Approach
- Contact
- Extension/Finish
All seven of these parts are fundamentals of the swing. Fundamentals are those “must-have” qualities you need for something to work. You must have eyes in order to see. You must have air in order to breath. And you must have consistent timing, tempo and tracking in order to be an elite hitter.
What is a Good Load
Timing is… When you Load
Tempo is… How you Load
Tracking is… What you hit because you were on time and on tempo
Lacking the skill of timing, tempo and tracking may be the reason you’re struggling to get lots of hits this month. Here are some drills for each part of the swing that need to be repped by the thousands to develop and maintain skills this summer.
Now get going…
Remember: Intelligence tops being smart.
