There is something I tell my clients that rings true when it comes to training: “Train under duress to achieve success.”
It’s close to spring and time to convert habits to skills. A habit is something that you repeatedly do while a skill is something that you repeated do under stress.
August – October: Assessment
November – January: Building
February – April: Converting
May – July: Maintenance
Here are three skills that you must have in order to be ready for baseball games this spring.
Timing x 3,000 reps
Tempo x 3,000 reps
Tracking x 3,000 reps
You can get this done and it’s simple to do. Here’s how:
Feb. 1 – Feb. 28
Timing x 1,000 reps
Tempo x 1,000 reps
Tracking x 1,000 reps
March 1 – March 31
Timing x 1,000 reps
Tempo x 1,000 reps
Tracking x 1,000 reps
April 1 – April 30
Timing x 1,000 reps
Tempo x 1,000 reps
Tracking x 1,000 reps
- What reason(s) will you give yourself to not to get this done?
- How many reps are you going to do per day per week?
- How many reps are you going to do per week per month?
- Who will be the blame if you don’t have a great spring season if you don’t get this done?
