Christmas is coming up soon and there are five things that all committed and disciplined hitters should receive for Christmas.
To help you get a jump on that list for Santa, here are several items/drills that should be penciled in:
As my Diamond Directors’ clients know, there are seven parts of the swing and that it takes 3,000 reps to build a habit. That’s 21,000 reps.
- Stance/Load
- Timing
- Tempo
- Tracking
- Approach
- Contact
- Extension/Finish
The size and weight of the tractor tire will teach you how to use all seven parts of your swing in order to drive the tire. This isn’t about hitting the tire hard—it’s about learning how to leverage your body to produce power. I believe that executing this drill with reps by the thousands will make this habit transferable to your games in the spring.
Commit to executing this drill for 100-300 reps per week for the next 12 weeks.
Timing and tracking are two of the most overlooked parts of hitting. gameSense has masterfully gamified how to develop these two essential skills—skills we know pay the bills.
For over a decade, Dartfish Express has allowed me to breakdown the parts of my hitter’s swing. This is great for visual learners.
Tanner Tees has everything you need to take swings by the tens of thousands, including tees, baseballs, batting gloves and nets.
adidas is a brand I adored as a child in the late ’80s because of its connection to Run DMC and rap culture. As an adult, it reminds me of my childhood every time I put on those adidas stripes. The adidas brand is a combination of comfort and style. For athletes, the three stripes will help you leave your mark on the game.
To help keep your skills sharp, we have introduced a new type of Skill Build—our Virtual Skill Build, where I can help you develop hitting skills anytime, anywhere using anything. Check it out.
Remember: Intelligence tops being smart.
