Even at 12, Dexter had lots of tools and an appetite to learn.

I’ve been fortunate to experience a wealth of growth and success as a professional baseball swing coach. I feel blessed that I can help my clients achieve their goals. Many young hitters have dreams that they’re afraid to share. If your goal isn’t big enough for a miracle to happen, it isn’t big enough to begin a relationship/partnership with me.
As a competitive hitter, you must be properly guided through the various phases of development. I can’t give you the entire secret sauce to hitting in this blog, but know that my clients’ successes don’t come by accident.
Take the Colorado Rockies’ Dexter Fowler. I began working him when he was 12. At first, we honed in on his goal of becoming a college baseball player. The Major League aspect of his training would be next.
Even at 12, Dexter had lots of tools and an appetite to learn. All I had to do was provide the systematic programming to convert his tools to skills that would attract college coaches. Prior to being drafted by the Rockies, Dexter earned a scholarship to play baseball at Harvard University.
When Dexter was an amateur player, our developmental training began in the winter. This is where we started to re-tool his swing.
Spring is where he could apply what we worked on in the winter to see how he measured up against local talent. Summer was about measuring himself against the nation’s top players through tournaments. Fall enabled him to have fun and play at a maximum effort knowing that the time to “recalibrate his swing” was right around the corner.
Now is the time for you to be assessed. You must do this before you begin your training regimen. My Diamond Directors assessment at D-Bat will determine your learning style and physical weaknesses. Without being assessed, it’ll be hard for you to succeed. Think of it as building a house. You must assess the land before you begin to build.
The three major styles of learning are visual, auditory and kinesthetic. As a professional swing coach, I cannot properly teach my students unless I understand each and every style of learning. Every client, regardless of age and talent level, will expect different things from me, and as a professional, it’s my duty to deliver.
Diamond Directors continues to be an industry leader in player development because we provide our clients with the blueprint for success, including hitters at the beginning stages of their development.
