“To keep the body in good health is a duty…otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” – Buddha
Is the engine the most important part of your car?
I’m not a mechanic, so I can’t answer that one with the upmost of confidence. But I can tell you that a gasoline car engine converts gas into motion.
Let’s look at the dynamics of what drives your swing. I consider the motion of a good swing to be organized chaos. There are so many moving parts that you must be controlled in order to adjust to varying pitch locations and speeds.
Remember: Your core controls the motion of the baseball swing.
Your core consists of your back and the abdominal area of your body. I’m a huge fan of Gray Cook Click here to check out core training with Gray Cook. I use his Gray Cook Bands in the Diamond Directors’ Hitting and Performance labs. His training philosophy is worth checking out.
To get an up-close and personal look at his training philosophy – and more, make an appointment and I will share these drills with you either online or onsite in the Lab.
The internet is full of great core training methods. It’s just a matter of finding one you’re comfortable with.
If you want to develop and maintain a functional swing that you can repeat consistently, spend more time developing your core.
