My hitters complete four phases of development each year: August-October; November-January; February-April; and May-July.
In August-October, we start the year with a focus on trying new things to discover what works and what does not. November-January is when we build habits based on what does work. February-April is when we convert habits to skills. And May-July is when we maintain the skills that have been developed.
July can be summed up with one word — apply.
- What hitting skills are you applying during your games in July?
- What new things do you need to try in the fall (August-October)?
- Are you on track to accomplishing your short-term (1-5 year) baseball goals?
To help keep your skills sharp, we have introduced a new type of Skill Build—our Virtual Skill Build, where I can help you develop hitting skills anytime, anywhere using anything. Check it out.
Remember: Intelligence tops being smart.
