CJ Stewart loved baseball from an early age. As a child growing up in Atlanta, baseball became both a pastime and a goal. CJ was fortunate enough to make the goal a reality, playing professional baseball as an outfielder for the Chicago Cubs from 1994- 1998.
Upon retirement, he began offering private instruction for amateur athletes, and served as an area scout for the Cincinnati Reds. As CJ traveled through the camp and clinic circuit, he met players who thought they could benefit from his guidance, and decided to open his training up to professional athletes.
In the beginning of his private instruction career, CJ admits he was in it for the money. As a former pro player, he wanted to keep baseball in his life, but still needed to make a living, and thought that offering private instruction would be the perfect way to fulfill the two requirements. At one point, though, a young client asked him why he should complete a drill CJ instructed him to complete. CJ didn’t think his two reasons sounded inspiring enough, and decided to give the matter some real thought.
As he worked it out in his head, he realized that he was on to something. He developed a methodology that challenges his players and keeps him going too. Now, the answer to “why?” is more defined: CJ Stewart has something to offer the world of baseball, a methodology that will help players improve and reach their own goals.
