As one of the top player development professionals in the country, I see a lot of different swings with a lot of different problems. The first thing I ask my clients when they come into my Hitting Lab is ‘Why are you here?’ The responses range from ‘I want to learn to switch hit’, or ‘I can’t hit the curve ball’ to ‘I want to hit for more power’.
In order to have success in these areas, you can’t put the cart before the horse.
After being assessed in the Hitting Combine and completing a 3K Swing Club series, the next program in the Diamond Directors Training System is Diamond Skill Build Classes. Here we address clients’ needs based on different concepts of the game.
Hitting curve balls, for example, requires a sound, repeatable swing that players develop in the first level of training in our 3K Swing Club program. The Diamond Skill Build Classes then allow our Certified Instructors to go into more detail on how to hit curve balls. Once players have a better understanding of how their swing works and can effectively repeat the proper swing, they’ll be ready to receive the Level 2 training/development information and drills.
